  Sunflowers are a work horse plant and rejuvenate soil in huge ways. In Chernobyl after the nuclear explosion Sunflowers were planted and used to clean the soil and air in that area of Russia. So if your soil need a lift consider planting sunflowers in your garden.

This is my most favorite time of year in my gardens. Lots of things are blooming that are only here once a year and everything is lush because of the June gloom. No leaf burns yet from hot, sizzling, relentless sun of August. Enjoy your yard right now and get veggies in soon Come end of August and September we will be planting Fall/ Winter crops. In the meantime keep harvesting, watering and enjoying the good food and flowers of your gardens.

Join in on an informative session this Saturday from 9:00 - 11:30 where you can learn how to set up your own home composting system right in your backyard. This session is designed to give a summary of techniques for beginners and delve into topics for the more advanced composters out there.
